We love Joe Miller. He's a strong leader with a compelling story. He is running against one of the Senate's worst establishment Republicans, Lisa Murkowski. Sarah Palin endorsed Joe early on, and many others have followed. Murkowski is one of the top Republican elites that need to go.
Jedediah Bila recently interviewed Joe for Human Events:
“I’m not a politician. I’m a concerned citizen,” said Joe Miller, Alaska’s GOP senatorial candidate, in an interview with HUMAN EVENTS. “I believe our nation is at a crossroads, and business as usual will no longer work.”
Miller, who is challenging Republican Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, defines himself as “a limited-government constitutionalist.”
“We must reverse the growth of the federal government and restore liberty and opportunity to the American people,” he said. “It means getting the federal government to live within its means and within its enumerated powers.”
Miller is unequivocally pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment. He’s a life member and benefactor of the NRA, supports the repeal of Obamacare, and opposes cap and trade and amnesty for illegal aliens. He also supports pro-growth tax reform and cutting corporate taxes.
Miller’s bio is impressive. He graduated with honors from West Point, earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Alaska and a law degree from Yale, served in the U.S. Army, and was appointed as a state magistrate and a Superior Court master for the 4th Judicial District at the young age of 30. He also owns a successful law practice and has served as an acting State District Court judge and a U.S. magistrate judge in Fairbanks. In 2004, he came close to a win in the race for state representative, but lost to the Democrat incumbent.
Despite his striking resume, Miller possesses an everyman quality. His priority isn’t where he’s been, but where he’d like to help this country go.
Miller grew up in Kansas, but moved to Alaska in 1994 due to his love of the great outdoors. “Alaska is a state rich in natural beauty and natural resources,” he said. “There is a spirit of adventure here. I’ve been able to live in its most populous city, Anchorage, out in the bush (as we call it) in Tok, and now in Fairbanks.”
Miller has been endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, the president of Alaska Right to Life, Tea Party Express, Lars Larson, Erick Erickson, the chairman of Defundit.org, and many more.
When asked what motivated him to run against incumbent Sen. Murkowski, Miller responded: “Are we going to keep faith with the Founders and defend our constitutional republic, or will we continue our headlong plunge into socialism and more government control? We already know what is at the end of that road—the decline of the dollar, further constriction of our economy, sustained high unemployment, crippling government regulations, and a deeper dependency on hostile foreign powers. I'm running to help turn that around, to stand up for individual freedoms, and to stand up for Alaska.”
Here is a segment from the exclusive interview:
HUMAN EVENTS: What are your priority issues for Alaska?
JOE MILLER: The main issues for Alaskans, like all Americans, are getting the economy moving again and the nation’s debt crisis. Beyond those issues, the development of Alaska’s rich natural resources is key. The federal government has title over almost two-thirds of the state—including, of course, ANWR. Oil production has dropped precipitously during the last decade.
The Trans Alaska Pipeline System is currently running at one-third capacity. Most Alaskans would like to see a portion of ANWR opened to development to help get production levels back up. The state is also rich in other minerals. The Obama Administration’s policies are hostile to these extractive industries, even if done in environmentally sensitive ways. Alaska needs more control over its own land and resources, so it can break away from being overly dependent on federal dollars coming into the state.
HE: What do you consider to be the most significant differences between you and Sen. Murkowski?
MILLER: Sen. Murkowski and I differ significantly. She is a statist; I’m not. She doesn’t want to return the country to constitutionally limited government; I do. She refused to vote to repeal Obamacare; I would. She voted for amnesty; I wouldn’t. I’m pro-life; she’s not. She wants to implement some form of cap and trade; I wouldn’t. She voted for the second Obama stimulus bill this past March; I wouldn’t do that. It really is a positional difference with respect to what we expect out of government.
I think the Constitution is there as a limiting document. That’s why it was ratified—to limit government, to ensure that our God-given rights are preserved. That is not her answer. She sees government as the answer to virtually everything that comes before our nation. And that is shown in her voting record. It is clearly a choice between a conservative, and not a moderate, but really a liberal. That’s why she’s in the top four RINOs in the Senate today, because of that voting record.
HE: Why will the outcome of this election be far-reaching?
MILLER: We must reverse course as a nation. If we don’t, big government running amuck with a stagnant economy and a sovereign debt crisis will drive us into a situation worse than Greece. Nothing is big enough to bail the United States out. And those most dependent on the federal government will be devastated by such insolvency. But this does not have to be the case.
If enough like-minded, limited-government leaders are elected to Congress—and trends in the lower 48 suggest that will happen—the whole tenor of that body can be changed. I plan to be a catalyst for change that will help reverse government growth and get this economy moving again. Alaska is a part of restoring the nation towards fiscal sanity. Sen. Murkowski is currently part of the go-along, same-as-usual, big-government spending going on in D.C.
Miller also spoke of Alaska’s strategic impact on the nation due to “its vast natural resources and geostrategic location.” He added, “I am committed to doing all that I can to get this nation moving again on a sustainable path. Too many people have paid too high a price to get this nation to this point in history, for us to blow it on our watch.”
Overall, Miller was optimistic about the ability of Americans to turn things around, but decisive about the need to “act now.” His love for Alaska and for founding American principles is unquestionable.
He’s the real conservative deal, folks. If you want a U.S. senator from the Last Frontier who will stand solidly by our Constitution and against the Obama agenda, you’ve found your man.

Obama’s Predictable, Tiring, Ineffective Lecture; Would Someone Call Him on the Hypocrisy, Please?
Congress’ approval rating is at 11% because politicians thwart the will of the people, explode our national debt, and practice reckless deficit spending while hoping we’ll sit down and shut up about their nonsensical agenda. President Obama just made the AFL-CIO suffer through another “Blame Bush” lecture today as he, as usual, put the car in reverse and looked backward to find someone else to blame for problems he helped cause and now aggressively perpetuates.
Okay, Mr. President, you tell us we have to keep looking backward (as we’re steered toward the cliff), so let’s go:
Barack Obama was part of the problem while in Congress. Senator Obama pushed the fiscally irresponsible measures that Democrats, who held the majority, advanced while holding the government’s purse strings. And now, as President, he’s not just one of the pack anymore as a mere contributor to the problem – he now leads the problem. We are sick and tired of President Obama pointing his finger and screeching through his blame game about what he “inherited.”
Up until 18 months ago he was fully engaged in that Congressional herd mentality of the Left as he just went with the flow, adding to the debt and deficit, instead of bucking his party’s leadership to stop the recklessness. (Did you ever hear him as an independent voice standing up and speaking out against his Democrat party’s overspending and over reach?
Come to think of it, did you ever hear of his congressional record at all? For the life of me I can’t think of any time he used his bully pulpit as a sitting U.S. Senator to lead free market, equality-respecting pro-private sector efforts, nor to change up actions he now conveniently condemns. He could have refudiated them all.)
His lecture today must have been tough for our good union brothers and sisters to sit through, though it may have resonated with some union bosses who desire their members to adopt a herd mentality, too, so as to not dare speak up against what Washington is doing to us.
Surely the good, hard working Americans who happen to be union members know, too, that Obama’s blame game is getting old. It’s obviously ineffective, it’s the antithesis of good leadership, and it reeks of hypocrisy. A complicit media won’t call President Obama out on this, so let’s do it ourselves, friends. It helps put his criticisms and fiscal problems in context.
In contrast to President Obama’s lack of leadership in getting our country on a responsible fiscal path, there are some who have a positive agenda, including Rep. Paul Ryan who has shared ideas that deserve a fair hearing. He knows why we need to rein in the government’s reckless spending and how it can be done.
Please read this excerpt of an article by Rep. Ryan and be thankful there are some who remember why they were hired to serve us in Congress – it sure wasn’t to merely vote “present” as the powers-that-be jam the car in reverse while hoping we won’t remember who dug the ditch we’re headed toward.
Reducing deficits should begin with a budget plan to cut spending, yet incredibly Congress abandoned its legal obligation to write a budget this year, which means the leadership has abandoned even the pretense of limiting government’s insatiable spending appetite. I hope the Debt Commission, of which I am a member, will identify potential major spending reductions when we publish our report in December. But waiting for somebody else to suggest cuts was no excuse for Congress to dismiss its mandate to write America’s budget.
There’s no shortage of ideas for cuts we could make immediately. Last year I identified $4.8 trillion we could cut. Right now we could easily reduce spending by $1.3 trillion by: rescinding $266 billion in unused stimulus funds and another $16 billion in leftover TARP money; saving $925 billion by cutting and capping discretionary spending at 2008 levels; imposing a hiring and pay freeze on government employees, saving $65 billion; and reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the proximate originators of the home mortgage meltdown, to save $30 billion. I would also give the President line-item veto authority to realize further savings.
The American people and both parties see the need to get federal spending under control. Any time congressional leaders want, we can start by cutting unnecessary expenditures. Let’s not punish business and workers by raising their taxes at a time when the economy is struggling to return to a growth path—that would only make a desperate situation worse.
Rep. Ryan is right about not raising taxes.
Lest we forget, the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Democrats have a special New Years gift in store for American taxpayers. On January 1, 2011, they are going to hit us with the largest tax increase in U.S. history. By allowing the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire on New Years Eve, the Democrats are going to impose a $3.8 trillion tax increase on Americans over the next decade.
Instead of admitting that this massive tax hike is just an attempt to get hardworking taxpayers to continue to fund their reckless spending, the Democrats are selling it is as a tax on “the rich” to increase revenues to pay down the debt. However, history shows that raising the top tax rate doesn’t lead to increased revenues. It’s what Arthur Laffer describes as a tax the rich Catch-22: the highest earners, who are expected to bear most of the tax burden, generally also have the best tax advisers to help them get around it.
Regardless of what the Democrats want you to believe, this is a tax increase on every American who pays taxes. Families will suffer because the Democrats’ tax hike will reinstate the marriage penalty, cut the child tax credit in half, abolish various personal exemptions, and impose limits on itemized deductions like home mortgage interest and charitable contributions. Investors and savers would suffer through increases in the top rates in long-term capital gains and qualified dividends. And the Alternative Minimum Tax would end up hitting 15 million taxpayers – up from 4 million in 2009.
We’ll all be feeling the pinch, but the ones who will be hit hardest by this massive tax hike will be America’s small business owners – the businesses that create up to 70% of all jobs in this country. According to a recent report by the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, small business owners will pay over half the taxes raised when the Democrats increase the top two tax brackets. In an already anemic jobless recovery, the last thing government should do is to impose even higher tax burdens on job creators. Instead of hurting “the rich,” such measures would end up hurting the unemployed.
To burden American families and small businesses with the largest tax hike in history while the economy is teetering on the brink of a potential double-dip recession is madness. It’s another reason why we must elect commonsense fiscal conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections this November. We simply cannot afford the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Democrats. We need people in Congress who know that the best way to get our economy moving again is to cut taxes, not raise them by unprecedented amounts.
You might have noticed that the Democrats have been throwing around the phrase “common sense” more often these days, but actions speak louder than words. We need real leadership in Washington across the board. We need common sense solutions, not finger-pointing, buck-passing, and lecturing.
- Sarah Palin
It's amazing that Obama is still on the "blame Bush" and "blame the evil Republicans" for everything, especially since the Marxist-democrats have been in control of Congress for almost four years. This strategy is not working among the voters though.
America is in dire need of leadership, and Obama, as Sarah has pointed out, doesn't have cojones to look out for all Americans. Seemingly all Obama knows how to do is party, play golf, and campaign. That's what a "community organizer" is: a rabble rouser, a campaigner. They are used to raising hell for whatever cause they are shilling for. Organizers like Obama are good at ginning up the rent-a-mobs, and making up catchy chants, as they attack good and decent people all in the name of "social justice", but like a dog that finally catches the car, once in charge, they are totatally clueless about what to do with it. Just worthless.
This is why November is so important. We must have strong, experienced leadership elected to Congress, to put a check on Dear Leader and his crew. We need the steady leadership of sober, responsible adults.
Oh, and let's not forget the "Trig trutherism" that ran rampant among this bunch, which Sarah herself addressed.
This does prove what Sarah has maintained all along, Couric was incredibly biased.
From the editors of Conservatives 4 Palin via The College Press. This is raw footage:
As you can see, the video shows Katie Couric preparing to go on the air on the day John McCain announced Governor Palin as his running mate. It shows some tantalizing hints of Couric’s attitude toward the Governor--when talking about first Trig, then Track, Couric says “where the hell do they get these [names]?...” At that point the producer running the sound board shut off the sound because he or she didn’t want to have Couric’s disdainful and contemptuous view of Governor Palin’s children captured on even an internal CBS tape that they never expected would see the light of day. You can tell this by the “OMG!” reaction of the CBS news employees who were in the control room as Couric said that about the Governor’s kids. This video also shows Couric taking a shot at female basketball players and at Governor Palin’s hometown, one of the fastest growing areas in the country, and the fifth largest city in Alaska.
There’s a larger story here, of course.
It’s not just what was said by Couric in her discussion of Governor Palin, but also the way CBS framed the narrative of Governor Palin’s life in their story. The script covers moose burgers, her kids, her being a former beauty queen and being on the cover of Vogue.
Sarah Palin was a sitting governor, and at that time, before the Obama campaign and their allies in the press spent months relentlessly smearing her good name, she had the highest approval ratings of any governor in the country.
She was also responsible for getting the largest energy project in North American history underway after several decades of interminable delays in Alaska. She was a courageous corruption-busting whistleblower who turned in the leader of her own party in Alaska for his corrupt practices.
She was a fiscal conservative who made the largest veto cuts in Alaska history, reined in the reckless waste, cut her own expenses, sold the governor’s private jet, let the personal chef go, and put away billions of dollars in savings for Alaska for a rainy day.
She was a tough CEO who went toe to toe with the Big Oil companies and fought to get the best deal for Alaskans, the resource owners she represented. And she did all of this as a woman from a modest background who was entirely self-made – without the benefit of a rich or influential father or husband.
But what in this impressive biography did CBS News and Couric choose to focus on? Moose burgers and beauty pageants.
By their choice of the framing of the story, it’s evident Couric and CBS had an agenda here: They wanted to diminish Governor Palin because her impressive record of accomplishments towered over the non-existent record of the guy at the top of Democratic ticket.
We know from the JournoList archives that the national press viewed Governor Palin as a threat to their anointed candidate whom they sought to elect with ferocity and determination. We don’t even need to see Couric’s snarky comment about Governor Palin’s children to know that CBS News and Couric were not interested in covering who Sarah Palin was or what her qualifications were, but rather in caricaturing her to influence the election in favor of their favored candidate.
As Governor Palin would say, “may the light continue to shine” to expose this sickness at the heart of our corrupt and biased mainstream media.
There's more history between Sarah and the Perky One, than this bit of childeshness. As Sarah pointed out in her book, there are hours upon hours of video tapes from a series of interviews Couric did with Sarah. Instead of airing all of that footage, CBS and Couric selectively edited it to paint Sarah is the worst light possible.CBS has refused to release the full tapes to either Sarah, or the McCain campaign. (or the media at large) Hmmmm. Wonder why?
Think about that. Katie Couric, who is supposed to be a journalist, sat down with one campaign, to work out how to interview someone from their competition. Seems to me the Federal Elections Commission should look at this as a "contribution" to the Obama campaign. Either that, or the IRS needs to ask her if she has a 1099 to show her payment from Obama for America, for services rendered.
When you think about it, that's pretty fantastic, and incredibly troubling.
The media in this country is dead. You can't trust a word they say, especially if it comes from the so-called "mainstream media." They are all a bunch of proven liars, and little more than stenographers for the Obama regime.
Lt Col Allan West (retired) is a favorite of ours, as well as our readers. Articles on West are always some of our most popular. He is a strong, no nonsense leader, and is running for Congress in Florida's 22nd District. His campaign has released an extrordinary video where he frankly discusses his actions as a leader while serving in Iraq:
Lt. Col. West is well known as someone who speaks his mind, as a recent post of ours points out. The video above is no different. He tells it like it is.
As a bonus, here's a recent interview Dave Reaboi from Big Peace conducted with Lt. Col. West on a variety of subjects, from the Ground Zero Mosque, Russia and peace through strength, to illegal immigration, and national security:
Last week I caught up with Congressional candidate Lt. Col. Allen West (US Army, Ret.) before he gave the Sunday Sermon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Boca Raton, Florida. Meeting Allen in a small park built as a monument to Martin Luther King, Jr. was so fitting, as was his sermon that morning at a storied African-American church. (Video of that inspiring speech can be found here.)
It’s fitting, too, that we begin our series of Big Peace Interviews with someone like Allen West, who combines the strategic vision of a policymaker and the experience of a real ‘boots on the ground’ participant in America’s recent battles. Unlike perhaps any other candidate for the House, Lt. Col. West is prepared to engage on a variety of issues of national security– often at length. (What other politician, much less a Congressional candidate, could draw a massive 40,000 views for a sober 20-minute lecture on Afghanistan?)
Allen West is the kind of new, fresh face we need in Congress. He is a true leader and someone who will work to make America better. The kind of man we can all be proud to support. Sarah Palin, who knows a leader when she sees one, endorsed Allen West quite some time ago. So did we.
Currently West is in a head to head battle with his Marxist-democrat competitor, and has turned a once "safe" democrat seat into a likely pick up for Republicans this November. You can help make sure this happens by supporting Allen. Go to his website http://allenwestforcongress.com/ and help any way you can.
Allan West is the sort we need in Congress to help get America back on the right track. Let's make it happen!
Jan Brewer has the cojones that our President does not have, to look out for all Americans, not just Arizonans, but all Americans in this desire of ours to secure our borders and allow legal immigration to help build this country.
~ Sarah Palin
In an interview with Chris Wallace for Fox News Sunday Sarah Palin blasts Barack Obama for propensity to blame President George W Bush for his own failures. She rightly points out that Obama was a United States Senator, and part of the Marxist-democrat controlled Congress that created many of the problems we are facing today.
Sarah also takes a big swipe at Obama's very manhood when talking about the situation in Arizona, and the nation as a whole.
When talking about the economy, Sarah said the democrats were "all wet" on plans to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire. "It's idiotic to think about increasing taxes at a time like this." Wallace then repeated the Marxist-democrat spin that keeping the tax cuts would raise the deficit. This is, of course, nonsense. The reason unemployment is so high is businesses, especially small businesses are scared. The situation is so unstable they simply don't want to hire, or make large capital purchases. Low taxes means they can afford to hire, and more people working, and buying things add to the tax revenue.
It's a proven fact that lower tax rates see an increase of receipts to the treasury and higher taxes see less. This was true when Kennedy lowered taxes, when Reagan lowered taxes, and of course, when Bush lowered taxes. The only way to control the deficit is to cut the insane runaway spending the Obama regime has embarked on.
Of course, Wallace brought up 2012. Now most are looking forward to a presidential run by Sarah in 2012. We feel she will be one of the finest Presidents we've had in quite some time, and her record certainly backs that theory up. With that said, she, like the rest of us, is focused on November 2010 like a laser. If Conservatives don't take back Congress in 2010, there probably won't be anything left to be President of in 2012.
Loved her answer about polling, and she takes a nice hit at the lies the media conspired to tell, with their coordination through Journolist.
Interviews like this are exactly why we support Sarah Palin strongly. This is a woman that doesn't mince words and doesn't talk a bunch of nonsense. Sarah Palin is a strong leader who DOES have the cojones to look out for all Americans on every issue we face. She is a true leader.
This video reports shows protesters against Arizona's right to protect it's citizens from an invasion of illegal aliens, and all of the violent crime it brings. Right on cue, these people, who are demanding citizenship for criminals, pull out huge Mexican and Cuban flags. The Cuban flag has the picture of mass murderer Ernesto "Che" Guevara on it.
Che, a darling of the communist movement to this day, was a violent killer who helped Castro come to power in Cuba. At one point he was in charge of killing off enemies of the state through military firing squads, and other "creative ways." His victims are said to number in the tens of thousands.
Guevara, who was born in Argentina, was so violent and out of control Castro sent him packing. He then went around the world trying to start revolutions. Much like Barack Obama's Weather Underground terrorist buddies, Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Jeff Jones, Guevara's dream was world where only communism existed, ruled by violent dictators.
Might be a good time to remind everyone of this:
Here's an interview with Maria Isabel, who was a precinct captain for Barack Obama in Houston Texas. She is the one who placed the Cuban flag, with the mass murderer's likeness on it, in the Obama for America campaign office. She's a real winner:
In February of 2008 World Net Daily had this to offer up:
Che flag sends 'disturbing" message about Obama
Candidate attracts "people who think mass murderers are romantic revolutionaries'
The Fox TV affiliate in Houston has captured images of a volunteer in a campaign office for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama working in front of a flag featuring the image of Che Guevara, the South American revolutionary who became Fidel Castro's executioner after the communist takeover in Cuba.
And while the Obama campaign has issued a statement placing a modest distance between the campaign and its "volunteers," the issue of such an image on display in an office operating on behalf of a man hoping to be commander in chief of the world's last remaining superpower is raising alarms.
Even Obama supporters have been forced into corners because of the issue, with one likening the Texas state Republican Party to Guevara, to whom have been attributed hundreds of executions of anti-Castro leaders.
Under the heading "Barack Guevara," Investor's Business Daily raised some of the more pointed questions, to which the campaign responded only with a statement: "The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign."
"How is it a front-runner for the highest office in the land can reject an American flag on his lapel but permit the display of a huge Cuban flag at one of his offices, emblazoned with a mass murderer's mug?" the publication asked.
"Barack Obama, displaying the same 'anything goes' standard of patriotism he showed when he ostentatiously refused to wear a U.S. flag in his lapel, now shows he's got a whole different idea about patriotism," the publication continued.
"Rather than repudiate the image, Obama would only call it 'inappropriate,' apparently without insisting it be taken down. That contrasts with his dismissal of his Senate colleagues who wear lapel flags as 'hypocrites.' Some hypocrites," IBD said.
"The display of the Castroite flag with Che's picture on it sends a particularly disturbing message about his campaign. Apparently, Obama tends to attract the kind of people who think of mass murderers like Che and Fidel as romantic revolutionaries. Those same people see Obama as a man with a messianic message.
"These are the voters he'll be indebted to should he win higher office," the publication warned.
But even worse, such a situation "coincides uncomfortably" with the candidate's demands for a "no-strings-attached" relationship between the United States and communist Cuba.
"Obama's naive idealism is based on a false understanding of history. Cuba is a nation that aimed Soviet missiles at us in 1962 and is likely to do the same if and when Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez gets advanced weapons from Russia or Iran," IBD said.
And, the publication said, that's not all: Cuba also in 1962 tried to launch a 9/11-style attack on New York's subways, a plot masterminded by Guevara, and in 1982 it tried to get the U.S.S.R. to launch nukes at the U.S. In 1996, Cuba shot down two airplanes and killed six Americans who were trying to rescue Cuban refugees at sea.
"Had a political candidate in Latin American pasted up a picture of Che at election time, there'd be no doubt where he stood – ones who did just that are now running countries with names like Bolivia and Venezuela. Is that what Obama really stands for?"
In a commentary on National Review, there was surprise that the Obama team only called the flag "inappropriate."
"What does it say that among these Obama volunteers, none of them thought to say, 'Hey, fellas, you know, this guy ran show trials and executions … Is this really the image of 'change' we want to project to the electorate?'"
Some Obama supporters defended the candidate's response.
Steve Benen, a Huffington Post contributor, wrote in his Carpetbaggerrerport blog, "If it behooves Obama to renounce Che, would it also behoove [GOP candidate John] McCain to renounce the Texas GOP's lunacy?"
He had explained, "The far-right sure does find some odd things to get excited about" and describes the outrage over the Guevara flag as a "major-league freak-out."
Benen said he wanted to "nip this in the bud."
"The reality is, a volunteer found office space in advance of actual campaign staffers arriving in Houston. One of these volunteers put up the flag, presumably taken from some dorm-room wall. When actual, paid campaign aides show up – they're due by the end of the week – one can safely assume the flag will be gone."
He likened the Texas GOP to Guevara because he says it suggests the U.S. monetary system be returned to the gold standard, the decriminalization of sodomy be reversed, the IRS be abolished and the U.S. should drop out of the United Nations.
On the Lone Star Times website, the authors said they had tentatively identified the volunteer as a Maria Isabel, based on her matching photos and identification in an earlier news report.
And on the Powerline Blog, the authors criticized the Obama campaign's "muted" response.
"This incident is significant, however, in that it reveals what sort of change at least some of Obama's supporters think he has in mind. Are they wrong? Maybe, but what has Obama said or done to disabuse them of the idea that he is a Che-admiring leftist?" the authors said.
"Then again, maybe these far-left Obama supporters are 'confused' because they've been following his votes in the Senate. Obama was one of only 29 senators who voted to filibuster the provision of the FISA reform bill that extended immunity to telecommunications companies that cooperate with law enforcement and intelligence authorities in identifying international terrorist communications," they wrote.
Think Maria Isabel was just a misguided nutbag, and Obama isn't a fellow traveler? Remember, in his book Dreams of my Father the one allegedly ghost written by terrorist Bill Ayers, Obama claims to have sought out the Marxist professors, and revolutionaries while in college. Left Coast Rebel has a marvelous piece describing Obama's college years that you can read here.
Enough about Che and Obama, for now. Let's get back to the protesters in Arizona, the ones who rushed the Maricopa County Jail. They look well organized, huh? Well they should. As Michelle Malkin reports, this was all pure astroturf. More than 550 union thugs, Barack Obama's paid enforcers, from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) boarded 11 buses in Los Angeles, California for the ride over to Phoenix to protest the Arizona law.
Open-borders/SEIU caravan to Arizona: You read it here first
On June 29, I shared an outraged e-mail from an L.A. government worker lambasting the SEIU for using worker dues to organize a pro-illegal immigration bus ride to protest Arizona’s immigration enforcement law. SB1070 goes into effect this week. Flashback:
I am a member of SEIU because, as an employee of Los Angeles County I have to be, and today I received an email from their office detailing how I can get a free seat on a bus from L.A. to Phoenix…to protest SB 1070. I am furious over this and wrote an email back to them to tell them so. I forget to mention to them I am especially upset over them using my dues to pay for this bus and the trip.
I fully support the intent of SB 1070, all the efforts of Gov. Jan Brewer, and the efforts of “Stand with Arizona”…I believe our borders should be firmly closed, and Mexicans should stand in line with all other would-be emigres from all other countries, get a passport and visa like everyone else, and come here legally…Further, we are the only country in the world that has wide-open borders and lets in criminals along with elderly women who only want to be maids. What on earth are we thinking? This will ruin our country! Thanks for all you are doing.
Well, just as my reader indicated, the purple shirts and reconquistas will soon be hitting the road. And masses of them will be bused into Arizona funded by worker dues.
As a judge weighs whether to halt Arizona’s controversial immigration law, hundreds of Los Angeles union members and activists are planning a bus caravan to Phoenix on Thursday — the day the law is set to take effect.
More than 550 people plan to ride on 11 buses to Arizona to stage a protest and launch a partnership with Arizona groups to boost voter registration. During the one-day trip, sponsored by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, participants will meet with Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris, march to the state Capitol and hold a vigil. The participants represent 32 unions.
Just remember: For every shamnesty-shilling union worker you see on the streets, there are untold union workers like my reader who object.
Nice huh? Remember, before he departed the SEIU, Andy Stern then head of that fine organization, was the number one visitor to the White House. Had more meetings with Obama and members of the regime than anyone else. For those that don't know, SEIU was founded by the Radkes, the same people who founded ACORN. In many cities they still share offices. Barack Obama's job as a "community organizer" for ACORN was teaching the rent-a-mobs the finer art of street thuggery and Saul Alinsky's vision for a communist America.
But wait, there's more! These clowns at the Mets game in New York had to show their stupidity on Friday:
Men Run Onto Citi Field With Mexican Flags
NEW YORK - Two men carrying Mexican flags in protest of Arizona's immigration law ran into the outfield during the seventh inning of the New York Mets' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Citi Field.
The men were apprehended by security fairly quickly without much incident.
Prior to the game, about 40 people across the street from the ballpark chanted "Oppose racism!" and "Boycott Arizona!"
Others stationed closer to the subway exit handed out leaflets that requested Major League Baseball move next year's All-Star game out of Phoenix.
“It’s not going to distract me. I’m here to play baseball,” Diamondbacks interim manager Kirk Gibson said after his team’s 9-6 victory over the Mets. “You have an opinion, I have an opinion. They have the right to say what they want, but it’s no distraction.”
As the trespassers were taken from the field people in the stands started chanting "USA, USA."
Lots of things to consider here. First, do these protesters, paid or otherwise, who want amnesty for some 20 million illegals really think the best way to achieve that is to wave the flag of another nation as well as one with the image of a communist mass murderer? Do they really think that will win the hearts and minds of the American people?
One thing I've noticed over my lifetime, immigrants, legal immigrants come to America and love our country. The proudly wave the AMERICAN flag, and try to learn our customs, and way of life. Legal immigrants who become citizens generally become the best Americans. They appreciate this country and the opportunities it offers to those who just want to put out an effort. They help make America great.
By contrast, this mix of communist agitators, union thugs, and illegal aliens only want to cause trouble and take. By waving the Mexican flag it's pretty obvious they don't care about the United States, and only see this nation as a place to get hand outs and preferential treatment. One wonders why they don't put the effort into reforming their own countries, much like our founder did, rather than come here and tear this nation apart.
Then there is Barack Obama. It's plain as day that he is part of the problem. He relates to the communist agitators and union thugs. He sides with these people, because he is one of them. It is simply unbelievable that the American people fell for this radical in the first place. All of the warning signs were there. He is a dangerous man who is harming our country in ways that may never be healed.
It seems our only hope is to take back Congress in November, in a big way, and work to stop the Obama regime's radical agenda at every turn. Then we can turn our focus on ridding the nation of this communist menace and his followers.
